Prioritize credible branch elections for 2028 victory – Joseph Abakah urges NDC leadership

The Central Regional Deputy Organizer and aspiring Central Regional Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Cde. Joseph Mensah Abakah, has strongly admonished the party’s leadership to ensure seamless and transparent branch elections, describing them as the bedrock of the NDC’s electoral resurgence.

Popularly known as “Commander 1,” Cde. Abakah stated that the integrity of the upcoming internal polls will directly shape the party’s capacity to secure a decisive victory in the 2028 general elections.

“The branch elections will determine the exhilaration of victory the party is yearning to achieve in the 2028 elections,” Abakah stated. “Electing the right leaders with unblemished electoral fairness will go a long way to give the party a solid, resounding victory in the 2028 general elections.”

    A Warning Against Manipulation

The regional organizer aspirant further cautioned that the election process must be insulated from manipulation and partisan interference. He warned that any attempts to skew outcomes would undermine the party’s momentum and create unnecessary internal friction.

“The elections should be free and fair, devoid of political manipulation to favor certain candidates. Such politically uncalculated moves will have severe consequences on our forward march toward the 2028 general elections,” Abakah emphasized.

A Call for Decorum and Unity

In a clarion call to party faithful and aspirants, Commander 1 urged delegates and candidates to jettison divisive rhetoric and conduct their campaigns with strict decorum. He stressed that internal discord only weakens the NDC while inadvertently emboldening the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

    ● Eschew Backbiting: Candidates must avoid politics of pulling others down and destructive personal attacks.

    ● Maintain Focus: Internal campaigns must remain civil, keeping the focus on the main political opposition rather than fellow party members.

    ● Protect Party Unity: Attacking opponents with invectives, he warned, would only invite a “bad omen” for the party’s future fortunes.

“Campaigns should be handled with decorum because the NPP is the target, not the NDC,” he reiterated.

    Crucial Crossroads for the NDC

Cde. Abakah’s intervention comes at a critical juncture as the NDC begins groundwork for its nationwide branch-level restructuring. With party faithful closely watching, the upcoming branch elections will serve as a litmus test for whether the NDC can achieve the unity, fairness, and strategic foresight required to capture power in 2028.
