The Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Ako Gunn, has congratulated newly elected party officers following last weekend’s elections, urging them to uphold discipline, promote teamwork and protect the party’s image.

In his message on behalf of the Communication Team, Gunn reminded the incoming executives that their four-year tenure would require unity, commitment and a collective effort to strengthen the party and secure more seats.

Quoting the adage, “To whom much is given, much is expected,” he urged the new officers to ensure their conduct and public statements reflect the values and aspirations of the NDC.

He cited the pressure faced by party communicators following an allegation involving a former Constituency Secretary, cautioning the newly elected executives against commenting on sensitive matters without the necessary clearance.

Gunn stressed that effective communication was essential to the party’s success, advising the officers to exercise restraint and avoid statements that could create difficulties for the communication team.

He also underscored the importance of emotional intelligence, urging successful candidates to celebrate their victories with humility and unsuccessful aspirants to accept defeat with dignity while continuing to contribute to the party’s progress.

On accountability, the Deputy National Communications Officer maintained that the NDC’s commitment to good governance must extend beyond government officials to include party executives. He warned members against conduct that could bring the party into disrepute.

Quoting a local proverb, he stated: “Sɛ nimɔ entumi wo ara, ɛtiti wo ntima,” urging party officers to remain mindful of their actions and safeguard the party’s reputation.

Gunn encouraged unsuccessful candidates to support the newly elected leadership and remain hopeful about future opportunities, stressing the need for unity as the party moves forward.

He concluded with the rallying call, “KUN FA YAKUN,” urging party members to remain committed to the NDC’s collective success.
