The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has fully satisfied its scheduled financial commitments
for the year to bondholders affected by the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP),
transferring a final settlement of GH¢2,306,202,372.09.
The latest disbursement caps off a series of scheduled payments executed by the cocoa
regulator throughout 2026 to restore fiscal stability and investor trust in the domestic cocoa
industry.
Earlier this year, in March 2026, the Board remitted a coupon payment totaling
GH¢376,325,910.09 to DDEP bondholders. With the addition of the latest settlement,
COCOBOD’s total payout to DDEP bondholders for 2026 reaches GH¢2,682,582,282.18.

The achievement follows a prior milestone in July 2026, when the institution paid out GH¢162
million to settle all remaining outstanding obligations owed to non-DDEP Cocoa Bill holders.
“The Ghana Cocoa Board wishes to inform bondholders, investors, cocoa industry stakeholders,
and the general public that it has settled an amount of GHS2,306,202,372.09, completing its
mandatory payment obligations to holders of bonds affected by the Domestic Debt Exchange
Programme (DDEP) for the year 2026,” the Board stated in an official release issued by its
Public Affairs Department.
Addressing the broader strategy behind the payments, COCOBOD emphasized its commitment
to long-term fiscal discipline.

“Taken together, these payments demonstrate the Board’s commitment to responsible financial
management and the systematic settlement of its financial obligations as part of the broader
effort to strengthen the financial sustainability of Ghana’s cocoa sector, under the guidance of
the Ministry of Finance,” the Board added.
With the 2026 DDEP payments now complete and non-DDEP Cocoa Bill claims fully closed out,
COCOBOD aims to build a more resilient financial foundation for Ghana’s cocoa sector moving
forward.
