In an era where political discourse is frequently characterized by fierce rhetoric and personal attacks, President John Dramani Mahama’s Chief of Staff, Dr Julius Debrah, is being celebrated as a rare example of decency, humility, and decorum in Ghana’s public space.

Political observers, party loyalists, and cross-party insiders are pointing to Dr Debrah’s extensive career as a masterclass in political maturity, describing him as a “gentle politician” who consistently refuses to engage in mudslinging or denigrate his opponents.

Throughout his high-profile roles in public service, including serving as twice Chief of Staff to President John Dramani Mahama, Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, and Eastern Regional Minister, Debrah has carved out a distinct reputation for elevating the national conversation.

”Politics does not have to be toxic to be effective,” a veteran political strategist observed. “Julius Debrah has proven over decades that you can passionately defend your party’s ideology and track record without resorting to destroying the character of others. He treats everyone with respect, regardless of their political colors.”

Colleagues frequently highlight his calm temperament and approachable nature, even during the most heated electoral campaigns. Instead of joining the daily political crossfire, Dr Debrah has historically chosen to focus his public platforms on national development, policy solutions, and unity.

This steadfast commitment to clean politics has earned him deep respect not just within his own political tradition, but also among political neutrals and rivals. As Ghana’s political environment becomes increasingly competitive, many stakeholders are pointing to Dr Debrah’s leadership style as the ideal blueprint for the next generation of politicians.

At a time when the public is calling for more constructive and issue-based dialogue from its leaders, Julius Debrah’s legacy stands as a powerful reminder that respect and political maturity remain essential ingredients for a healthy democracy.
