Information gathered by www.NewsGuideAfrica.comindicates that, a Senior Muslim Nurse, Adiza Ibrahim, who was punished at her work place for wearing hijab at work has officially been reinstated back to her former place of duty.

Adiza Ibrahim who is a Senior Nursing Officer with the Accra Psychiatric hospital, in new a memo dated January 28th, 2019 from the Nursing Administration of Psychiatric Hospital, Accra and signed by Mrs Beatrice Nyarko (DDNS) reinstated her to her former duty post as a ward in-charge at the hospital.

This was after several stakeholders got involved and agitated against the decision of her supposed demotion.

The Minister of Inner Cities and Zongo Development, Hon. Mustapha Abdul Hamid, MUYAD Social Services, some human right activists and other Muslim bodies did not take the matter lightly as they saw the decision of the hospital as an affront to the constitutional right of Adiza Ibrahim.
Adiza Ibrahim was punished after an incident ensued between Mrs Beatrice Nyarko and herself on the14th of January, 2019, where Mrs Nyarko upon seeing Adiza Ibrahim in her hijab questioned why she was in a hijab.

This resulted the nursing administration taking a decision to relieve her of her duty post as an In-Charge at the Hospital.

This happened, in spite of the recent directives from Ghana Health Service (GHS) and Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) to reinforce their directives issued in 2015 directing all heads of health institutions to allow the Muslims to wear their hijab at work and in schools.

However, some days after the issue became public, the hospital has reinstated her to her former duty post.

But, attempts to reach Adiza Ibrahim to confirm the information was unsuccessful, as she decided to remain silent on the new development.
