The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) officially launched its annual week-long Staff Welfare Celebration on Monday, September 28, 2026, rolling out new employee benefits and launching community water projects to mark the occasion.
The celebration, themed “Our People, Our Teamwork and the Spirit That Makes NPA One Family,” began with a breakfast meeting at the forecourt of the Authority’s headquarters to usher in a series of events designed to foster entrepreneurship, sustainability, and team unity.
Guest of Honour and Deputy Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Hon. Richard Gyan Mensah (MP), underscored the direct connection between employee satisfaction and national energy security during his keynote address.
“The NPA plays a pivotal role in Ghana’s energy sector and, for this reason, staff welfare must never be regarded as an afterthought,” Hon. Gyan Mensah stated. “A motivated, healthy and respected workforce is fundamental to institutional effectiveness.”
Addressing the gathered workforce, NPA Chief Executive Godwin Kudzo Tameklo Esq. commended staff for their dedication while announcing several recent management interventions designed to enhance employee well-being. These include the introduction of responsibility and professional allowances, increased travel allowances, and extended paternity leave.
“Management remains fully committed to addressing your welfare concerns and creating an enabling environment where every employee can thrive,” Mr. Tameklo affirmed, thanking staff for their continued commitment to the Authority’s mandate.
Highlighting the workforce’s role in the organization’s trajectory, outgoing Welfare Committee Chairman Ernest Ayeh Darteh noted that employee drive remains the true engine of the institution.
“Staff are the backbone of this organization,” Mr. Darteh said. “Every milestone achieved by the NPA is a direct result of the hard work, resilience, and unity of our people.”
Beyond internal activities, the NPA marked the occasion by commissioning two 20,000-litre-capacity boreholes in Mangoase and Tinkong in the Eastern Region as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The week-long itinerary continues on Tuesday with an Entrepreneurial Fair for staff, followed by a Sustainable Waste Management Workshop on Wednesday, an inter-directorate quiz competition, and a final wrap-up party on Friday to close out the 2026 celebrations.
