A social commentator, Kofi Gbedemah, recounts his recent visit to the South Dayi Constituency in Ghana’s Volta Region, where he was impressed by the development projects led by Member of Parliament Hon. Dafeamekpor Etse Rockson Nelson.
The Majority Chief Whip of Parliament is spearheading initiatives that are transforming the area.
The projects include a 24km Todome-Tsatey-Kaira-Ahor-Toh-Tsanakpe-Dzemeni trunk road and a 1.5km Kaira-Ahor link road, enhancing connectivity. A 100-unit affordable housing project is underway, with 20 houses already under construction. The MP also secured approval for a Kpali State SHS at Todome, a long-awaited project for the Kpalis.
Other initiatives include enhanced electricity networks, potable water systems for Tongor and Kpalime, and over 700 driver’s licenses and Okada licenses for youth. A new District Health Administration5 office complex is also being built at Kpeve.
Gbedemah praises the MP’s efforts, highlighting the economic benefits of good roads. He notes that the Volta Region has suffered poor road networks, and hopes South Dayi’s progress sparks a new wave of development.
“If Honorable Dafeamekpor continues at this pace, the entire South Dayi enclave will soon become a haven for all manner of enlightened destinations,” Gbedemah writes, envisioning health, eco-tourism, and wellness retreats in the area.
