The Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has extended its warmest greetings and best wishes to the Muslim community in Ghana, the diaspora, and across the globe ahead of the Eid al-Adha celebrations.
In an official statement issued from Accra, the sector Minister, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, called on citizens to use the sacred occasion to renew their commitment to national unity, peace, and mutual respect.
A Call for Sacrifice and Unity
Eid al-Adha, known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates the profound faith, obedience, humility, devotion, and selflessness exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS). Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim noted that the celebration serves as a timely reminder for all people to uphold the values of sacrifice, compassion, tolerance, and service to humanity.
Quoting Surah Al-Hujurat (49:13) from the Holy Qur’an, “Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you,” the Minister emphasized that values such as love, generosity, discipline, and concern for the vulnerable remain essential pillars for building stronger communities and a more prosperous Ghana.
Commending the Muslim Community
The statement highly commended the Ghanaian Muslim Ummah for its invaluable and continuous contributions to the country’s development.
”The Ministry acknowledges and appreciates the continued contributions of the Muslim community toward national peace, interfaith harmony, education, local governance, and socio-economic development,” the statement noted.
Hon. Ibrahim further urged all citizens to continue fostering understanding, tolerance, and solidarity to ensure collective national advancement.
Prayers for the Nation
Concluding the message, the Minister offered prayers for the acceptance of sacrifices and the enduring peace of the country.
”May Allah accept our prayers, sacrifices, and acts of worship, and continue to bless Ghana with peace, stability, unity, and prosperity. Eid Mubarak!” the statement concluded.
