GCB Bank PLC has reaffirmed its commitment to social responsibility and national development through two major financial and material contributions.

Management donated GH¢100,000 worth of vital neonatal equipment to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and presented GH¢20,000 to support the funeral rites of the late Paramount Chief of Tolon.

The dual interventions highlight the bank’s ongoing strategy to invest in essential community healthcare services while honoring traditional leadership and cultural heritage across Ghana.

Vital Life-Saving Equipment for Korle Bu NICU

In Accra, executive representatives from GCB Bank delivered state-of-the-art medical equipment valued at GH¢100,000 to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital to enhance critical care for preterm and critically ill newborns.

Presenting the equipment, representatives of the bank underscored the urgent need to support public health facilities in lowering infant mortality rates and providing adequate resource coverage for specialized medical units.

“As a bank deeply rooted in the progress of Ghana, investing in the survival and health of our infants is one of the most vital contributions we can make,” a senior corporate executive from GCB Bank stated during the presentation ceremony. “Our donation of GH¢100,000 in specialized neonatal equipment reflects our unwavering commitment to empowering Korle Bu’s medical team to save precious young lives every day.”

Receiving the equipment on behalf of the hospital, leadership at the Korle Bu NICU expressed profound appreciation, noting that the donation directly addresses operational capacity gaps in neonatal care.

“We are immenseley grateful to GCB Bank for this timely intervention,” a senior medical official at the Korle Bu NICU remarked. “High-quality neonatal equipment is essential for the survival of critically ill newborns, and this gesture will directly enhance our ability to deliver life-saving care to hundreds of infants in our unit.”

Honoring Cultural Heritage in Northern Ghana

In a separate gesture of corporate solidarity, a high-level delegation from GCB Bank paid a courtesy call on the traditional authorities and elders of the Tolon Traditional Area in the Northern Region to pay tribute to the late Tolon Paramount Chief, Major (Rtd) Sulemana Aboubakari.

To support the traditional council and royal family during the final funeral rites, the bank presented a cash donation of GH¢20,000 alongside customary traditional items.

“The late Paramount Chief of Tolon was a revered leader who dedicated his life to community development, peace, and national service,” a representative of the GCB Bank delegation noted during the visit. “GCB Bank stands in deep sympathy with the royal family, the chiefs, and the people of the Tolon Traditional Area as they celebrate the legacy of an illustrious leader.”

Speaking on behalf of the traditional council, elders from the Tolon chieftaincy expressed gratitude to the bank’s management for standing with the traditional area during their moment of bereavement and honoring the chief’s historic legacy.
