The Agricultural Development Bank PLC (ADB) has received a significant endorsement from the Elmina Traditional Council, as a high-powered delegation of chiefs and queen mothers paid a courtesy call on the Bank’s Managing Director, Edward Ato Sarpong, to congratulate him on his appointment and reaffirm their commitment to partnering with the Bank to advance economic growth and national development.

The delegation, led by Nana Kwamina Nguandoh IV, Chief of Simiw, conveyed the goodwill and congratulations of Nana Kodwo Conduah VI, Omanhen of Edina Traditional Area, describing Mr. Sarpong’s appointment as a testament to his leadership, integrity, and commitment to Ghana’s banking sector.

The visit underscored the growing recognition of the critical role financial institutions and traditional authorities can play in accelerating inclusive development. Discussions focused on exploring strategic partnerships that would create opportunities for businesses, empower local communities, support agriculture, and stimulate sustainable economic growth within the Central Region and across Ghana.

Speaking during the engagement, Nana Kwamina Nguandoh IV commended the remarkable progress ADB has made in recent years. They expressed unwavering confidence in the Bank’s strategic direction under its new leadership. They pledged the full support of the Elmina Traditional Council as ADB pursues its vision of becoming one of Ghana’s top three performing banks.

The delegation further extended a formal invitation to Mr. Sarpong and the Bank to participate in this year’s Edina Bakatue Festival, scheduled from 7th to 11th July, 2026, describing the annual festival as an important platform for promoting culture, investment, tourism, and community development.

Receiving the delegation, Mr. Edward Ato Sarpong expressed profound appreciation for the honour and reaffirmed the cordial relationship between ADB and the Elmina Traditional Area. He acknowledged the invaluable role traditional authorities continue to play in promoting peace, community development, and economic empowerment.

The Managing Director highlighted the Bank’s ongoing transformation agenda, noting that ADB remains focused on strengthening customer experience, expanding digital banking services, supporting agribusiness, enhancing operational efficiency, and delivering sustainable value to customers and shareholders.

He reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to collaborating with traditional institutions, local communities, and other stakeholders to promote inclusive financial services and unlock economic opportunities across the country.

“Traditional leadership remains an indispensable partner in Ghana’s development journey. By working together, we can deepen financial inclusion, empower local enterprises, support agriculture, and create sustainable prosperity for our people,” the ADB MD stated.

The visit further demonstrated the enduring relationship between ADB and traditional authorities, highlighting the shared commitment to building stronger communities through strategic partnerships, responsible leadership, and inclusive economic development.

Other members of the delegation included Nana Kow Daatse III, Nana Nidriba Akrasi I, Nana Saakoa Agyeman II, Mr. John Quaicoe, Madam Vivian Sortor, and Mr. Muniru Abdul-Salam. Other ADB officials present were Papa Arko Ayiah, Head of Anti-Money Laundering and Compliance; Jacob Kwamena Annan, Head of Operations; Mohammed Ali, Head of Marketing and Communications; and Joseph Mensah Abakah, Major Market Account Executive, Central Region.

As ADB continues its transformation journey, collaborations with traditional institutions are expected to strengthen the Bank’s community engagement strategy while reinforcing its role as a trusted partner in Ghana’s socio-economic development.
