Agricultural Development Bank (ADB PLC) Ladies Association has climaxed this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month with “Pink Ladies Soirée.” An event organized as part of the association’s commitment to promoting women’s health and wellness, while creating awareness on the prevention and early detection of breast cancer.

The colourful event, held on 31st October 2025, brought together staff from various departments and branches of the Bank, as well as invited guests.

It was also attended by health professionals, and breast cancer survivors including Miriam Abla Anani and Georgina Setorwu Kumah-Dzagah who recounted their survival journeys from diagnosis through to treatment.

Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB PLC), Mr. Edward Ato Sarpong reaffirmed the Bank’s unwavering commitment to the health, wellness, and overall well-being of its employees.

He emphasized that initiatives such as the Pink Ladies Soirée are not only symbolic but also essential in nurturing a workplace culture that prioritizes health awareness, prevention, and support.

Mr. Sarpong noted that creating opportunities for open dialogue on health-related issues, especially breast cancer, helps break stigmas and encourages early screening and treatment.

He commended the ADB Ladies Association for their proactive efforts in championing women’s health and for aligning their initiatives with the Bank’s corporate value of being purpose driven.

The Managing Director pledged a cash donation of Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS20,000.00) on behalf of the Bank to the Flames of Hope Foundation in support of awareness campaign on the prevention and management of breast cancer.

“I am optimistic that through consistent awareness and collective action, many more lives can be transformed and hope restored to individuals and families affected by breast cancer,” he said.

Commenting on the Pink Ladies Soirée and the breast cancer month in general, the Deputy Managing Director in charge of Operations, Mrs. Sylvia Naa Kwakai Nyante, emphasized that the fight against cancer is a shared responsibility that required the collective effort of individuals, families, institutions, and society as a whole.

“Breast Cancer awareness, early detection, and support for those affected are not duties reserved for the health sector only but there is the need for active participation of all and we as a bank recognize the crucial role of education and advocacy in saving lives,” Mrs. Nyante said.

The President of the ADB Ladies Association, Bridget Lekanong Nuotuo Kaminta, encouraged all staff to carry the message of awareness beyond the event by actively supporting breast cancer initiatives and prioritizing regular health checkups for themselves and their loved ones.

“The fight against breast cancer extends far beyond the month of October, it is a continuous effort that requires compassion and shared responsibility,” she added.

Other activities of the soiree included breast screening exercises by the Trust and Islamic Hospitals.
