Chief of Staff Dr. Julius Debrah has extended his warm congratulations to all candidates who contested in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency elections, calling on party faithful across the country to prioritize post-election reconciliation, unity, and internal cohesion.

Speaking in the wake of the nationwide internal polls, the Chief of Staff emphasized that while winning an election marks an essential milestone in political organization, true political leadership requires vision, service, and togetherness that extends far beyond individual electoral triumphs.

Victory is Only the Beginning

Addressing party delegates, successful candidates, and grassroots members, Dr. Debrah cautioned against over-exultation by winners and alienation of unsuccessful contestants, noting that internal elections are intended to strengthen the party rather than divide its ranks.

“Electoral victory is merely a first step in political leadership, but true leadership goes far beyond electoral victory,” Dr. Debrah stated. “Winning an internal contest does not make one superior to fellow party comrades, nor does losing mean one’s contribution is no longer needed. The ballot box is simply a mechanism to structure our collective effort it is not an end in itself.”

He reminded newly elected constituency executives that the ultimate goal of the party remains serving the citizens of Ghana and advancing national development, which can only be achieved through a unified front behind government initiatives.

A Call for Immediate Reconciliation and Calm

Highlighting the heated nature of political contests, the Chief of Staff urged all local branches and constituencies to immediately initiate internal healing processes to mend any rifts created during the campaign period.

“I urge all winner and non-winner candidates alike to maintain total calm and work together as one family,” he urged. “To those who emerged victorious: reach out to your brothers and sisters who contested against you. Bring them into the fold, value their ideas, and lean on their strengths. To those who were not declared winners: your dedication to our party remains vital. True leaders demonstrate their character not just in victory, but in how they support the collective cause after the contest.”

Grassroots Strength and Party Discipline

Dr. Debrah commended the party leadership, election committees, and delegates for demonstrating maturity and commitment throughout the voting process. He reaffirmed that the strength of the NDC lies in its grassroots structure and democratic resilience.

“The internal democratic processes we have just concluded showcase the deep-rooted strength of our party,” Dr. Debrah added. “Now that the elections are over, the real work of leadership begins. We must channel this energy into consolidating our grassroots, engaging our communities, and upholding the discipline required to deliver governance that truly serves the Ghanaian people.”

As constituency executives prepare to assume their mandates, the Chief of Staff urged all party organs to close ranks and focus on building inclusive leadership at every level of the organization.
