The Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah, has urged fathers and male guardians to move beyond providing only financial support for their families and actively invest in the moral and spiritual upbringing of their children.
Delivering a special Father’s Day sermon today at his local church, the Pentecostal International Worship Center (PIWC) at Trasacco, Hon. Debrah emphasized that the rapid transformation of society requires deliberate parenting, anchored on strong godly principles.
Speaking on the theme “The Role of the Modern Christian Father,” the Chief of Staff noted that while economic provision is vital, the emotional and spiritual availability of a father is what ultimately shapes a child’s destiny.
”A father’s success should not only be measured by the size of his bank account or the roof over his family’s head,” Hon. Debrah told the packed congregation. “The greatest legacy a man can leave behind is a generation of children who fear God, respect humanity, and possess the integrity to lead tomorrow.”
Leading by Example
Drawing references from the scriptures, Hon. Debrah cautioned that the societal decay often witnessed today can frequently be traced back to the breakdown of the family structure and the absence of strong male role models. He challenged fathers to be mirrors of the virtues they wish to see in their children.
”Children do not just do what we tell them; they do what they see us do,” he stated. “If we want a disciplined society, we must first model discipline in our homes. We cannot expect our society to be honest if we do not practice honesty before our wives and children.”
A Call for Prayers
The Chief of Staff also used the opportunity to pay tribute to single mothers who are performing dual roles due to various life circumstances, while calling on the church to support young men with mentorship programs.
He concluded by asking the congregation to constantly pray for fathers, noting that the pressures of the modern world can often be overwhelming for the heads of households.
”Fathers face immense silent battles. As we celebrate them today, let us also commit to lifting them up in prayer, so they receive the wisdom and strength from above to lead their families aright,” he added.
The Resident Pastor of PIWC Trasacco expressed gratitude to the Chief of Staff for his insightful message and led the congregation in a special session of prayer for all men present, crowning the service with a celebratory presentation of gifts to the fathers.
