In a historic move to democratize access to quality education, Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has unveiled plans to officially roll out the “No Fees Stress” policy on July 4, 2025.

This pioneering initiative, first introduced by President John Dramani Mahama during the 2024 electoral campaign, seeks to liberate first-year students in public tertiary institutions from the burden of academic user fees.

Addressing the distinguished gathering at the 58th Special Congregation of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Professor Opoku-Agyemang disclosed that an impressive contingent of over 100,000 students has already successfully completed online applications for the policy.

“The government remains steadfast in its commitment to implementing innovative funding models that enhance access to quality education, and the No Fees Stress policy is a testament to this resolve,” she declared.

Citing data from the Students Loan Trust Fund, the Vice President revealed that by mid-June, a staggering 130,000 students had navigated the portal, with over 100,000 completing their applications. Ultimately, as the government prepares to launch the application process on July 4, Professor Opoku-Agyemang reiterated the administration’s unrelenting dedication to expanding educational opportunities and safeguarding academic freedom.

“The government’s resolve to improve access to quality education remains unshaken,” Professor Opoku-Agyemang emphasized, underscoring the policy’s potential to empower citizens and drive national development. With the “No Fees Stress” policy set to become a reality, Ghana is on the cusp of a transformative era in education, one that promises to unlock the full potential of the masses and propel the country towards growth and development.
