The National Executive of the Ministers’ (Pastors’) Wives Association of Assemblies of God, Ghana, has paid a courtesy call on the First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Mahama, at her office in Accra.

The delegation was led by the National President of the Association, Lady Mrs. Monica Wengam, wife of the General Superintendent of the church. She was accompanied by the National Vice President, Rev. Mrs. Gladys Tito Agyei, and the National Secretary of the Association, Mrs. Hannah Birikorang. Also present were Mrs. Rita Awintia, Regional President of the Association for Greater Accra East, and Rev. Mrs. Barbara Ayesu, Regional President of the Association for Greater Accra West.

    Visit

The visit was aimed at congratulating the First Lady on her elevation and expressing appreciation for her participation in the 2024 Ministers’ Wives Conference. It also provided an opportunity to discuss issues of national concern, particularly those relating to the welfare of women.

Lady Mrs. Monica Wengam commended the First Lady and her husband, President John Dramani Mahama, for their loyalty and longstanding support for the church. She highlighted their role in facilitating free medical screening and treatment for retired ministers, their spouses, and widows of deceased pastors.

    Discussions

Discussions during the meeting centred on strengthening collaboration between the church and the state, with a shared commitment to improving the well-being of women across the country.

The First Lady, Mrs. Mahama, encouraged the church to continue investing significantly in the welfare of women and children, stressing that such efforts contribute to national development.

The delegation presented Mrs. Mahama with gifts, including a Bible and church souvenirs, and offered prayers for the First Couple and the nation.

Reciprocating the gesture, the First Lady presented the visitors with souvenirs from the Lordina Foundation.
