The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has assured cashew processors of the government’s readiness to support them in regulating the cashew production line.
This assurance aims to ensure a win-win situation for both the processors and the country, guaranteeing a return on investment.
In a meeting on Thursday, 17th September 2025, in Accra, the Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to assisting cashew processors, particularly in light of recent challenges faced by Usibras , the largest cashew processing company in Ghana.
Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare reaffirmed the government’s drive for value addition and extension services to sustain businesses and make them competitive globally.
The minister said the Ministry will work with relevant agencies including the Tree Crop Development Agency to strengthen and regulate the cashew production to benefit processors and farmers.
The government, she said, is committed to creating a conducive environment for investors, including those in the cashew processing industry.
The meeting between the minister and some members of the Association of Cashew Processors Ghana follows a recent media report of Usibras’ threat to exit Ghana for Ivory Coast due to rising production costs.
On his part, the General Manager of Usibras and President of the Cashew Processors Association, Mr. Antonio Camamelo, however expressed confidence in the minister’s ability to address their concerns.
