The Coalition of Muslim Organisations, Ghana (COMOG) has extended its warmest felicitations to the Muslim Ummah and all Ghanaians on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, while making a passionate plea for national unity, discipline, and responsible leadership.

In an official statement released today, May 26, 2026, and signed by its President, Hajj Abdel-Manan Abdel-Rahman, the coalition reminded Ghanaians of the profound spiritual significance of the “Festival of Sacrifice.”

    Lessons of Sacrifice and Sincerity

The statement highlighted the unwavering faith, obedience, and sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), emphasizing that the core message of Eid-ul-Adha extends far beyond the outward ritual of animal sacrifice.

“This sacred event teaches us that true sacrifice is not merely about the outward ritual, but about sincerity, obedience, discipline, devotion, and placing Allah’s command above personal desires,” the statement noted, citing Surah Al-Hajj (22:37) to remind the faithful that it is piety, rather than meat or blood, that reaches God.

COMOG urged Muslims and the wider Ghanaian public to use the period to renew their commitment to righteousness, selflessness, taqwa (consciousness of God), and service.

A Call to Action for Leaders and Parents

Addressing the socio-political climate, COMOG stressed that Eid-ul-Adha should serve as a daily guide for personal and national introspection.

The coalition challenged every citizen to reflect on the question: “What sacrifice am I making for my family, my community, and my nation?”

The release outlined specific responsibilities for various sectors of Ghanaian society:

Parents: Urged to nurture children with strong Islamic values, love, education, and moral responsibility.

Community & Religious Leaders: Called upon to actively promote unity, justice, compassion, peace, and development over personal interests.

Political Leaders & Public Officers: Monished to embrace honesty, accountability, integrity, and selfless service for the collective good of the country.

    Building a Stronger Ghana

Concluding the message, COMOG noted that Ghana finds itself at a “critical time” where unity, discipline, compassion, and responsible leadership are paramount.

”COMOG therefore calls on all Muslims and citizens of Ghana to uphold the values of faith, sacrifice, justice, service, and unity as we work together to build stronger families, stronger communities, and a more peaceful and prosperous Ghana,” the statement concluded, offering prayers for peace and blessings upon the nation.
