Hon Haruna Iddrisu, Ghana’s Education Minister, is in London attending a summit on Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education.
The summit focused on safety and establishing clear standards for AI systems in education.

Iddrisu participated in a panel discussion, highlighting AI’s potential to support teachers and learners. He emphasized that AI should complement human agency, not replace it. “Human judgement and critical thinking remain essential cognitive abilities and cannot be replaced by Generative AI,” he stressed.
The Minister advocated for legislation and policy frameworks to safeguard these capabilities and govern AI technologies in education. He believes AI can enhance teaching and learning, but human agency must be prioritized.
