Alhaji Said Sinare, has marked his birthday with a powerful message of hope, encouragement, and renewed commitment to the party’s grassroots, branch executives, and loyal supporters who continue to hold the NDC together across the country.

    In a heartfelt statement shared on his official Facebook page, the former National Vice Chairman of the NDC said he had chosen not to celebrate himself on his birthday but to dedicate the day to “the true pillars and unsung heroes of the party”; including hardworking branch executives, committed ward coordinators, constituency and regional officers, and the ordinary grassroots members whose sacrifices have kept the NDC strong and relevant.

    “Today, as I mark another year of life and purpose, I choose not to celebrate myself, but to dedicate this special day to the true pillars and unsung heroes of our great party; the hardworking branch executives, committed ward coordinators, tireless constituency officers, regional executives, and indeed, the grassroots members who continue to sacrifice in silence for the progress of our party and the success of our government,” he wrote.

    Jail the big men behind galamsey or it will never stop – Awall Ibrahim

    Media personality and member of the NDC Press Corps, Awall Ibrahim, has called for a firm crackdown on the powerful figures believed to be behind the growing menace of illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, across Ghana.

    According to him, the fight against galamsey will remain futile unless the real financiers and political kingpins who control the illegal mining networks are arrested and prosecuted.

    “Till we start jailing the big wigs behind galamsey, it will never stop,” Awall Ibrahim stated firmly. “The small miners on the ground are only the face of a much bigger problem. The real masterminds are those who fund and protect the operations.”

    He expressed deep concern about the massive environmental destruction caused by galamsey, particularly its impact on rivers and farmlands. He lamented that several communities have already lost access to clean drinking water as a result of the pollution.

    Awall Ibrahim cautioned that if the government does not act decisively, Ghana could soon face a major agricultural and water crisis.

    He further appealed to civil society groups, the media, and the general public to keep demanding accountability from leaders, stressing that the issue should not be turned into a political battle.

    The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has made an official complaint to the Ghana police service to cause the arrest of some 20 persons captured on videos making the rounds on social media before Monday the 1st of september 2025.

     

    In a statement issued by Ako Gunn, Deputy Communications Officer, noted that failure to do that, the police can trust us to arrest them ourselves and present them to the police on or before the 2nd of September 2025.

     

    The NDC was officially invited to the one week comemoration on Friday with a gold plated card. The national chairman, Hon Johnson Asiedu Nketia, led a delegation of national, regional, members of parliament, constituency, branch,and the parliamentary candidates for Akwatia, Hon Bernard Bediako to represent the party at the event, only to be attacked by a mob insisting that the candidate would not be allowed to enter the funeral grounds.

     

    This unfortunate incident by the NPP caused the widow of Ernest Kumi to break down in tears, seeing such distasteful things at her husbands funeral. Those who knew Ernest Kumi would understand the emotional trauma her husbands party placed her.

     

    The NDC demands a speedy action from the police. Else, they may have incidents to deal with on or before the day of the election.

     

    The people captured by the lenses of the media are known in the communities of Boadua, wenchi, Akwatia, and its surrounding villages.

     

    The police can not be seen speeding up arrest and prosecutions when it comes to the NDC and being lackadaisical when it comes to NPP. We are ready to cooperate with the police from this evening till the evening of Sunday if they call on us. Anything less than this will see us helping them in their duties on monday and Tuesday.

    Accra High Court has unequivocally dismissed an application filed by the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma North, Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie, seeking to thwart the scheduled rerun of elections in 19 polling stations.

    The court’s decisive verdict underscored the imperative of ensuring representation for the constituents of Ablekuma North, thereby upholding the sacrosanct principles of democracy.

    Justice Ali Baba Abature, presiding over the case, astutely observed that the Electoral Commission (EC) would be well-positioned to provide adequate compensation to the applicant in the event that she succeeds in the substantive case. The court’s pronouncement highlighted the potential consequences of delaying the rerun, which could conceivably deprive the people of Ablekuma North of their fundamental right to parliamentary representation.

    Counsel for the applicant, Gary Nimako, vociferously argued that the EC’s decision to rerun elections in 19 polling stations was arbitrary and capricious, constituting a blatant affront to the authority of the court.

    He contended that the “pink sheets” from the polling stations in question had been duly signed and certified by party agents and presiding officers at the time of the original election, rendering any rerun both superfluous and unlawful.

    “The EC’s decision is unjustified and amounts to a direct affront to the authority of the court,” Nimako averred. The EC, undeterred by the NPP’s stance, has scheduled the rerun for Friday, July 11, 2025, underscoring its unrelenting commitment to upholding the democratic process.

    The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has categorically rejected the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to conduct a parliamentary rerun in 19 polling stations within the Ablekuma North Constituency.

    According to Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the NPP, the party’s candidate, Nana Akua Afriyie, rightfully won the election with a margin of 414 votes, and the EC should declare her the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North.

    “We are resolute and we know that our candidate, Nana Akua Afriyie, won the elections with a margin of 414 votes. This is based on facts and figures,” Frimpong asserted at a press briefing.

    He emphasized that under no circumstances will the NPP participate in a rerun, maintaining that the party has won the elections and the EC should follow the court’s directive to finish the collation and declare Afriyie as the MP.

    Kodua described the EC’s decision as unjust, urging the Commission to act in accordance with the facts and evidence presented during the electoral process. The NPP’s stance adds to the mounting political tension surrounding the contested constituency, with the party adamant that any further delay in declaring Afriyie as MP constitutes a violation of the electoral mandate of the constituents.

    The EC’s decision to rerun the parliamentary election in 19 polling stations was based on irregularities in the collation process, specifically the absence of validation by some Presiding Officers on scanned results.

    However, the NPP maintains that all necessary procedures were followed, and the party’s agents, along with EC officials, had duly verified and signed the results at the polling stations involved.

    In a related development, the NPP has secured an interlocutory injunction to halt the EC’s planned rerun of parliamentary elections in the 19 polling stations, pending a court decision.
