From March 2 to 6, 2026, Abidjan in Côte d’Ivoire, will host a regional consultation of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to serve as a framework for strategic, inclusive, and forward-looking reflection on the future of the organization, in preparation for the upcoming Special Summit of Heads of State dedicated to the future of ECOWAS.

On the sidelines of this important event, the Research and Statistics Directorate of the ECOWAS Commission’s Department of Economic Affairs and Agriculture is organizing a series of five regional technical workshops from March 2 to 13, 2026, in Abidjan. These meetings are part of the implementation of ECOWAS Vision 2050 and the Project for Harmonization and Improvement of Statistics in West and Central Africa (PHASAOC), funded by the World Bank. They aim to strengthen the harmonization, modernization, and performance of the statistical systems of member states.
